MeT Expects Snowfall in Ist Week of December in J&K

Srinagar 29 November (KNB): The Meteorological department on Monday said that a heavy snowfall over higher reaches with light snowfall over plains is expected in J&K during the latter part of December’s first week.  

The MeT official said that the heavy snowfall on the higher reaches (above 2000m) in J&K would be observed during 5th to 7th of next month with snowfall of 2-3 inches likely to be received during the period over the plains. 

It further said that there would be a widespread light to moderate snowfall/rain in plains of Jammu during 5th to 7th of December.   

However, it was further said “As of today, there is no forecast of heavy snowfall/rainfall in plains.” 

As the snowfall is expected by the MeT official in the first week of December in J&K, it also warned of temporary disruption of traffic at places like Zojila, Sinthan Top, Razdan Top and Mughal Road due to snow and freezing temperatures. (KNB)
