MET department predicting rain and snow

Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNB): With the MET department predicting rain and snow in many parts of the valley, Ladakh regions continued to be gripped under cold wave.

According to the MET Director Sonam Lotus, a feeble western disturbance could trigger light to moderate rains at many places in the plains while the higher reaches of Jammu and few places in the Kashmir may witness snowfall till Wednesday.

He further said that after Wednesday weather is likely to improve.

The day temperature may remain around 12 degree Celsius in the valley while the night temperature may dip below freezing point till Thursday.

Srinagar witnessed the night’s lowest temperature of about minus 3.7 while the temperature was minus 5 in Pehalgham and minus 5.2 in Gulmarg.

Ladakh remained the coldest town in the state with the temperature of minus 19.2 followed by Leh at minus 14.
Jammu city recorded the temperature of 7.2 degree Celsius, Katra 6.7, Batote 2.7, Banihal minus 1.5 and Udhampur was at 1 degree Celsius. (KNB)
