Mercury Rises Across Valley Amid Rain, Snow

Srinagar 03 February (KNB): The temperature across the valley rose last night amid the ongoing rain and snow in different parts of J&K, providing a bit of respite in cold conditions .  

According to MeT’s daily parameter, the temperature rose last night at most places in the valley, with Srinagar recording temperature above freezing point i.e., 0.6 degrees Celsius, which on the previous night was -1.9 degrees Celsius.

Similarly, the other places in the valley also saw an increase in night temperature last night, which include Pahalgam, recording -1.7 degrees Celsius last night which on the previous night was -6.1 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg also saw a rise in temperature after mercury settled at -6.0 degrees Celsius, which on the previous night was at -8.0 degrees Celsius. 

Places like Qazigund, Kupwara and Kokernag also witnessed a rise in temperature last night as mercury settled at 0.2 degrees C, 0.4 degrees C and -1.0 degrees C respectively. 

Regarding the weather in the coming days, the MeT official yesterday said that there would mostly be an erratic weather condition in J&K till 8th February, with another light wet spell of rain and snow predicted during the 6th and 7th of this month. (KNB)
