Mehbooba Mufti Accuses BJP of Political Maneuvers in Light of Dr. Andrabi’s Visit to Molana Mushtaq Veeri’s Home

Srinagar 21 September (KNB): Mehbooba Mufti, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the PDP, has responded to Chairperson J&K Waqf Board Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi’s recent visit to the residence of Molana Mushtaq Veeri, who was released from jail following High Court orders.

In her statement on X, Mufti criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what she termed “dirty political games.

In a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti stated, “Religious leaders now released & felicitated by BJP after being slapped with PSA were earlier accused of being a security threat by the ruling party. While they engage in dirty political games wonder what it will take to free other preachers accused of the same crime? Ishfaq Bukhari, Abdul Majid Dar, Manzoor Misbahi & Fayaz Shah continue to languish in jail”.

Mufti raised questions about the continued detention of other Islamic scholars who face similar accusations. She specifically mentioned Ishfaq Bukhari, Abdul Majid Dar, Manzoor Misbahi, and Fayaz Shah, who remain in jail despite the release of Mushtaq Veeri and others.

Notably, Maulana Veeri was released from jail on September 9th after the Jammu & Kashmir High Court quashed the detention order and directed his release who were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) last year.

Yesterday, Dr. Andrabi visited the residence of Maulana Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri in Bijbehara.
