Mayor Mattu Reviews Water Supply Scheme of Srinagar City

Srinagar 12 June (KNB): Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation Junaid Azim Mattu on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the status of Water Supply Scheme of Srinagar City.

As per a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, the meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Parvez Ahmed Qadri, Commissioner SMC Athar Khan, Chief Engineer , Jal Shakti Department Kashmir, Joint Commissioner Admn Riyaz Ahmed Shah, S.E Jal Shakti, Joint Commissioner Works Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shah and Executive Engineers.

At the outset of the meeting, the Mayor emphasized on the preparation of the Master plan for PHE for Srinagar city. During the course of the meeting Mattu stressed the need for improvement / augmentation of existing city water supply schemes and directed officials to ensure proper distribution of qualitative and safe drinking water to the citizens of Srinagar.

Mayor further directed the Department of Jal Shakti to prepare DPR’s for SCADA system and for adding of new water treatment plants for providing standard water quality.

It was also directed to the PHE officials to ensure enforcement against installation of direct boosters on pipelines in collaboration with Ward officers of SMC.

At the end of the meeting Mattu reiterated that monthly status related water supply issues are to be sought that shall be personally monitored by Chief Engineer Jal Shakti. (KNB)
