Manipur incident “outrageous” :Basharat Bukhari

Says, Political, other classes must rise above vote bank & other considerations to shape the society respecting human values

Srinagar 21 July (KNB): Expressing outrage over the brutal gangrape and murder of two Kuki tribe women in Manipur, former Law minister Syed Basharat Bukhari thursday said, that the gruesome incident was grossly disturbing and utterly unacceptable in our society.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, Bukhari said that the incident has brought forth the adverse impact of the political and other narratives being built and spread through the media over so many years which somehow impact the psyche and mindset of the public resulting in such gruesome acts.

“Our heads hang in shame as these daughters/ mothers and sisters belonged to all.” Bukhari said

Bukhari further said that a conscious campaign of spreading hatred has now become a norm with the media becoming a deliberate and willing partner for its amplification, and the results that this hatred produces ultimately ends up in degrading the social and human values of our society.

” This is dastardly surprising that nobody seemed in a hurry to address the crises and turmoil which is going -on for months there”. Said Bukhari,

” Wahi Jantay hain ye dard Jo aisay halaat se guzray houn” he added

(only those who understand the pain of such destruction who have actually passed through the same).

While condemning the incident vociferously Basharat Bukhari said that he was short of words to express his pain and anger over the incident and urged the Political and other influential classes of the society to desist from spreading hatred for vote bank politics and other relevant issues , and instead work on shaping the society where people would think thousands of times before indulging in such inhuman acts.

“my heart goes out for the families of these innocent daughters, mothers and sisters and I must tell all that,

Batiyaan, Maiyain aur Behnie Sanjhi hoti hain Daughters, mothers and sisters belong to all.” Statement further added
