Srinagar 07 August (KNB): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday morning flagged off Run for Polythene-Free Srinagar rally from Ghanta Ghar in which around 600 boys took part.
Run for Polythene-Free Srinagar was flagged off from the Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk by LG. “The path-breaking initiative is aimed at making cleaner streets, lakes and communities to bring better environmental sustainability in the UT,” said LG Manoj Sinha in his tweet.
LG further added that “the rally of around 600 children passed through various areas of the city to generate awareness against the use of polythene to make Srinagar polythene-free zone.”
As polythene is one of the major contributors of environmental pollution across the world, the rally to generate awareness regarding the same is a much needed one. (KNB)
