Legal Metrology Department Books Two Medical Shops in Baramulla, Says Violates Labelling Norms in Sale of Oximeters

Srinagar 21 June (KNB): Legal Metrology Unit Baramulla on Monday registered a case against two medical shops in North Kashmir’s Baramulla for sale of Pulse Oximeters in violation of Section 36 (1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

“In one case, a medical shop was offering for sale Oximeters with dual Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Identical products with the same month and year of manufacture were bearing different MRPs (Rs. 2999 and Rs. 3999),” said an official. 

In another case, a medical shop was offering for sale oximeters which did not bear statutory declarations. “The Legal Metrology team seized the deceptive products and issued a seizure memo against the medical shops on the spot. Further legal proceedings are underway in both cases,” the official added. 

The officials further said that consumers are advised to remain careful while making purchases and in case of grievances, approach the Department for proper redress.
