Srinagar 12 May (KNB): The Enforcement Wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) on Wednesday conducted a demolition drive in the area of Saidakadal Rangerstop.
A statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau said that during the drive, one under construction structure near the bridge, one single storey at Saida Kadal and plinth for shops, raised in the green belt area were demolished on spot.
Also, the illegal filling in the area of Rakh-i-Arth in Bay 04A was removed on spot. However, opposite Bay 08 there was a stiff resistance from the assembled crowd and as such the encroachment could not be removed fully.
The violators taking the advantage of current lockdown (Covid-19) had indulged in raising these illegal constructions which were on spot demolished by the demolition team. Also legal action warranted under rules was initiated against the violators.
The demolition team was accompanied by the security provided by PCR Sgr and Ladies contingent during the demolition drive.(KNB)
