Kupwara Police Arrest Militant Associate, Recovers 50 Cr Worth 8 Kgs Heroin

Srinagar 24 May (KNB): Kupwara police on Monday said that they have arrested one militant associate and recovered 8 Kgs of Heroin from his possession, which has a monetary value of 50 Crore rupees.

SSP Kupwara, during a press conference, said that on specific information, Kupwara Police busted a Narco module and have arrested one militant associate.

From the militant associate’s possession, 8 Kgs heroin was recovered, which according to the police official, is worth rupees 50 crores.

As per police, the other persons involved, who are on the run, have been identified, and efforts are being taken to arrest them.

During the press conference, SSP said that these drugs are handed to militants to be converted into money to carry out militant activities in the valley. 

“The Module was in close connection with Pakistan based handlers and were involved in drug trade & assisting militants financially in the Valley. The recoveries also exposed the inter connection between drug dealers and militants,” said the police official.  

“The module was working for militants to strengthen their activities in the valley and were misleading and motivating the local youth of the Valley to join militant ranks,” the police said.

However, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been taken up. (KNB)
