KSJA lashes out at Sports Council for barring journalist from covering Kiren Rijiju visit

Srinagar: Kashmir Sports Journalists Association (KSJA) on Saturday lashed out at J&K Sports Council for sidelining the Kashmir based sports journalists and other journalists from covering the events related to visit of Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju in Kashmir .
In a statement issued  to news agency Kashmir News Bureau by KSJA , quoting its President Syed Tajamul the Association said that Sports Council barred the entry of all journalists including Sports Journalist at the venues where events were held.

“First time such a thing has happened that journalists were barred from covering Sports Function involving Union Minister ,” said President KSJA Syed Tajamul.

“Not only that journalists were stopped from covering the events but they were also not invited or informed at all. While as few chosen National media channels were allowed inside the venues,” he said.

He said that throughout the year local journalist give wide coverage to Sports Council events and when it comes to big events they are sidelined.
“The irony is that throughout the year local Sports Journalist give wide coverage to local events conducted by Sports Council and when they conduct big events , these local sports journalists are sidelined,” he said.

KSJA has requested Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take note of this and punish those who are responsible for this.
