Srinagar 5 May (KNB): Inhabitants of Kralpora area of Budgam marked a protest on Wednesday, expressing anguish over the administration failing to Macadamize dilapidated road connecting the area to Srinagar.
Demanding macadamization of the road, locals told news agency Kashmir News Bureau that for past year, condition of the link road to Srinagar, is getting worst day in and out and authorities must take action in order to end the immense suffering of commuters.
The protesting locals alleged that the drain construction, which took place seven years ago on both sides of the road, became dysfunctional just after some time of completion due to which water logging has become a consistent issue amid rains, etc.

“Despite repeated attempts to reach out to the concerned authority regarding the matter, no one has responded to us. Apart from all other issues we are facing– negligence from authorities regarding this very basic need of a commutable road in a society– has proven that no one really cares about us and all the administration does is lie,” one of the locals told KNB.

Another local, GH.Nabi, a local from Boni Shah Mohalla of Kralpora said that their vehicle suffers heavy damage due to deformed road and even walking gets impossible, especially amid summers as it gets really dusty while slightest of rainfall leads to muddy situations, which is even worst.

“Now, as summer is on the head, many inhabitants of the area take medicine due to the dust roaring in the air which comes from dusty patches of the road,” he said.

He further said, “road has collapsed due to not having the drainage system, but on few points it’s completely dysfunctional.”
Recently, expecting at least some type of action in this matter, the locals approached the concerned authorities, who assured that within some time restoration work will be initiated but so far no one from the concerned department has visited the area commuters continue to suffer. (KNB)
