Srinagar 28 July (KNB): Following the bursting of cloud in Jammu and Kashmir Kishtwar district’s Dachhan area, five persons have died and dozens others are missing with damage incurred on 6 houses and one ration depot, as per police officials.
As per the officials, the cloud burst triggered a flash flood in the Hanzor area, which resulted in killing of five persons, missing of 20 plus persons and rendering of damage on at least six residential houses, one ration depot.
Following the incident, police and other disaster management teams reached the spot to launch the rescue operation. During the operation, police said that 12 injured persons have been rescued so far.
However, LG Manoj Sinha, after the incident, said that “Saddened over loss of precious lives due to flash floods caused by cloudburst in Dacchan, Kishtwar. My thoughts are with bereaved families.”
He further said “Spoke to senior authorities and district administration. Army and SDRF team working on war footing to rescue people and trace the missing persons. I am continuously monitoring the situation.” (KNB)
