Kiren Rijiju Arrives in Kashmir Ahead of 2nd ‘Khelo India’ Winter Games Kick off

Srinagar 25 February (KNB): Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju arrived in Kashmir valley today, ahead of the second edition of ‘Khelo India’ Winter Games, which are going to commence on 26th of February in World famous Ski Resort Gulmarg of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

As per Kashmir News Bureau reports, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports was accompanied by Secretary, Tourism, Culture, Youth Services & Sports, Sarmad Hafeez.

The second edition of Khelo India Winter Games will start from 26th of February and culminate on March 2nd in Jammu and Kashmir’s winter destination of Gulmarg.

Around 1200 athletes and guests from across the country are scheduled to participate in the event.

The mega event will see various sports including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoe, ice stock, ice hockey, ice skating, etc.

Moreover, stalls of ethnic food and local crafts, several cultural programmes will also be organised on the occasion.

The event is being organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of J&K.

Last year, the first edition of ‘Khelo India’ Winter games was also held at Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg from March 7th to 11th, which was a soaring success. (KNB)
