Srinagar 06 March (KNB): The link road of Kawoosa in Srinagar’s outskirts is in shambles, and the work for its upliftment has not been done since last year’s March, during which the R&B department had generated an order for the chosen contractor to initiate work on the road.
A year has passed since the R&B department allotted the work to the contractor for improving the Kawoosa link lane in the area of Hokersar Srinagar, which has since then been riddled with countless puddles, adding to its already deteriorated conditions, causing problems to the nearby residents.
As per locals, the R&B department has failed for a year to initiate the work on this link road regarding which the same department had issued an order on March 14 last year to its contractor for starting the work, which yet remains to be done.
The residents of the area said that they had been left aghast by the department’s apathy to alleviate their problems, resulting from depriving a basic facility like the provision of a proper road for quite some time.
This road’s dilapidation has been such a bothering for the residents of the area. The elderly people, students and patients face a lot of problems as the road is not fit for walking or even to drive. A little drizzle of rain converts the road into a pond,” said a local.
He further said that the concerned department should immediately intervene in the matter and requested the higher authorities to resolve the pending issue.
While talking to Chief Engineer R&B Showkat Jeelani, he said that he would figure out the reason behind work not carried on the link lane if the order had been passed a year ago.
“Sometimes there are works related to drainage or others going on in the area which hampers the process, but I will look into it as the year has passed since the allotting of order for the work,” he said. (KNB)
