Srinagar, 21 November (KNB): The Department of Urdu at Kashmir University commenced its three-day workshop “Capacity Building Workshop for Primary and Secondary Level Urdu Teachers” inaugurating the event on November 21, 2023.
The inaugural session held in the EMMRC Auditorium was presided over by Prof. Nilofar Khan, Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University.

Prof. (Dr.) Arifa Bushra, Head of the Department of Urdu at KU, welcomed the guests and highlighted the workshop’s aims and objectives, emphasizing its alignment with the new education policy.

Prof. Adil Amin Kak shared insights on the workshop’s significance.
Dr. Shafaq Sopori underscored the workshop’s importance for capacity building and explored Urdu’s role in India’s cultural landscape.
Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, as the guest of honour, stressed the need for such workshops to enhance educational and research capabilities.
Presidential Speech:
Prof. Nilofar Khan, in her presidential speech, commended the department for organizing the workshop. She applauded the role of the Urdu Department in harmonizing modern technology with teaching processes, expressing hope for its pivotal role in Urdu language development internationally.
Book Launch:
Research scholars Dr. Irfan Rashed, Dr. Mohd Younus Dar and Mr. Altaf Ahmed Nizami’s books were launched during the event, adding an academic highlight.
Gratitude and Acknowledgments:
Dr. Mushtaq Hyder conducted the inaugural session gracefully and Dr. Kausar Rasool extended thanks to all the distinguished guests.
