Srinagar 16 April (KNB): In an important development Army General Chief Bipin Rawat said that to revive Kashmiriyat, we need to get our act together.” It is not difficult. We have to get our act together, sit down together, work together and make sure that we all get united and ensure that peace prevails, “he said.
Army chief General Bipin Rawat stated that the radicalised youth of the Valley would soon realise that the gun is not the solution to their problem as neither the Army nor the militants would achieve their goals through it.

The peaceful resolution of India -Pakistan disputes, including the core issue of Kashmir, can be found through comprehensive and meaningful dialogue, Pakistan’s Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has said.
Meanwhile while taking to social networking site Twitter, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq tweeted: Indian Army chief admits to the futility of use of force and Pakistan Army chief talks of peace through dialogue. Its time their political counterparts accede to what their chiefs have realised and resolve the #Kashmir dispute through political measures putting an end to bloodshed. These latest developments have been welcomed by one and all.

PDP Senior leader and Chief Spokesman Rafi Mir while talking to The Kashmir News Bureau stated – “ You need to remember that basic thrust behind formation of Peoples Democratic Party was to bring peace and start a vibrant dialogue on all the burning issues impacting the situation out here. The outlook shown by the army chiefs of two countries and to add to it the tweet of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq all are steps in right direction as bloodshed is going to yield nothing and only dialogue and talks would normalize the situation.”

The opposition party National Conference also welcomed the developments. National Conference MLA Abdul Majeed larmi from Homeshalibugh constituency in South Kashmir, while talking to The Kashmir news Bureau stated –

“Our party has said since beginning that without talks there is no way out, the two countries India, Pakistan with stakeholders of Kashmir can settle this issue, bloodshed will give us nothing. It is good that even the Army Chief Bipin Rawat has got the pulse of situation and has stated neither army nor militants will get anything out of violence and we hope same would be conveyed to PM Modi. Both Mainstream and separatists should be involved in meaningful talks to find lasting solutions.”

Former Member of Parliament and senior Congress Leader Tariq Hameed Karra, while talking to the Kashmir News Bureau stated “Government and establishment should know only two ways are there to resolve issues one is war and other is peace. The message of army chief should be translated into confidence building measures on ground and increased political engagements between India and Pakistan. Kashmir has been turned into battle ground and both countries should take necessary steps to ease the situation. So many army generals in past too have talked of the need to shun war rhetoric and I am happy that good sense has prevailed upon the Army chief Bipin Rawat. When Europe can shun hatred walls why can’t two estranged brothers India and Pakistan.”

Commenting on the tweet by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mir Imran, a Human rights defender, while talking to The Kashmir News Bureau stated – “The tweet of Mirwaiz stressing that the vision laid out by the army chiefs of two countries on peace and talks be carried forward by the political spectrum is the need of the hour. Violence and bloodshed will solve nothing and esteemed Mirwaiz has echoed same sentiments and emotions. It is high time we end political uncertainty by meaningful dialogue.”

Bashir Ahmad, a commoner stated – “Protest, violence cannot be continued forever as the methods that cause destruction can never settle the issues. We should restart dialogue and peace talks and save our youth from the grim episodes of violence and bloodshed as violence leads nowhere.”

After a long time the positive pulse has been generated in the pain hit valley of Kashmir by Army Chief Statement and Mirwaiz tweet. (KNB)
