Kashmir observes Shutdown against custodial killing of Awantipora teacher

Srinagar, March 20(KNB): The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had called for compelete shutdown today against custodial death of a school teacher, Rizwan Pandit.

Shutdown is being observed all over the valley, shops,educational institutions and other commercial establishments are closed in Srinagar and other district headquarters of the valley.

Public transport is off the roads while a very less movement of private vehicles is witnessed in uptown areas of Srinagar city.

The mobile Internet speed is throttled in parts of Kashmir valley while the services have been reduced from 4G to 2G in two districts of Budgam and Srinagar in central Kashmir.

Earlier, Rizwan Assad Pandith of southern Kashmir’s Awantipora, died in police custody on Tuesday, triggering outrage across Kashmir.

The school teacher was picked-up by the police from his home few days back.

Meanwhile, a magisterial probe has also been ordered in the case.(KNB)
