Kashmir observes Complete shutdown against Kulgam Killing

Srinagar, October 23 (KNB): The separatist Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had called for a march to Lal chowk today against the Kulgam killings.

According to reports reached Kashmir News Bureau, “The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief, Yasin Malik along with his supporters was detained while trying to lead his protest march towards Lal chowk.”

All road ways to Lalchowk were sealed with concertina wires, where large number of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary personnel were deployed to foil any attempt by the separatists to reach there.

 

Earlier, The Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who was put under house arrest on Tuesday, tried to defy the restrictions and march towards Lalchowk, a police official said.

He said Mirwaiz came out of his residence and addressed supporters who had gathered there. Mirwaiz then tried to march to Lalchowk but was detained and taken to Nigeen police station, the official said.

Meanwhile, the protest march led by National conference (NC) General Secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar towards Raj Bhavan was foiled by Jammu and Kashmir Police and several National conference leaders, activists were detained and lodged in police station

As early advised by the traffic police department the road from Amira Kadal to Regal Chowk had been blocked to maintain the Law and order in the city.

On the other hand, the high-speed internet service were reduced to 2G in the Srinagar city as a precautionary measure. (KNB)
