Fahad Shah Released After 21 Months in Detention; KNB Extends Warm Welcome

Srinagar, 23 November (KNB): Fahad Shah, the founding editor of The Kashmir Walla, reached home on Thursday, ending a nearly two-year stint behind bars. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court’s recent decision to strike down his detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and facing charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) paved the way for Shah’s release.

Shah’s homecoming elicited an overwhelming display of solidarity from various quarters with friends family and supporters congregating at his residence in Srinagar, creating an emotionally charged atmosphere.

Released from Kot Bhalwal in Jammu, Shah was not alone in celebrating this significant moment. Notably, Malik Sajid Editor-in-chief of Kashmir News Bureau-KNB and Imran Naikoo Bureau Chief, visited Shah’s residence to express solidarity and extend a warm welcome upon his release.

In a symbolic gesture during the visit, Malik Sajid praised Shah’s resilience, stating, “Fahad Shah’s steadfast commitment to journalism is commendable. We celebrate his return.”

Malik Sajid conveyed good intentions for Shah’s future and extended heartfelt prayers for the well-being of Shah and his family.-KNB
