Srinagar 01 November (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Women’s wing Monday protested against invoking sedition charges on three Kashmiri engineering students studying in Agra.

JKNC women wing raised slogans against the harsh steps taken towards the three Kashmiri students in the aftermath of the India and Pakistan T20 cricket match.

One of the woman protestors from NC said that the invoking of sedition charges against the students had been termed ‘Ridiculous’ by Retd. Justice Deepak Gupta.

She said that the students had just expressed their joy. “If real sportsmanship could be seen, a well played team is usually being praised and the (losing one) is ignored,” she added.

She further said the students did not raise slogans against the country and had just clapped. She also invoked the first PM of India Jawaharlal Nehru and said that even he had said “game should be left as game.”

In response to a reporter’s question, she said that the charge of sedition should be withdrawn. “That is why we are protesting, and although this charge was not justifiable,” she added. (KNB)
