Srinagar 23 Sept(KNB): The Sub-Committee, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association held a virtual meeting today to express gratitude to the Board for Control of Cricket in India
(BCCI) which during its Apex Council meeting took momentous decisions with regards to the welfare of the domestic cricketers.
In a press release issued to news gathering agency Kashmir News Bureau today, Brig Anil Gupta (retd) Member Administration of the JKCA informed that BCCI has decided to compensate cricketers who missed playing Ranji Trophy and Senior Women T-20 tournaments which could not be held during the season 2020-21 due to Covid 19. As per the intimation received from BCCI
the cricketers who participated in 2019-20 BCCI Domestic season in the abovementioned tournaments – will get 50 percent match fee as compensation for season 2020-21 lost due to Covid.
In another far-reaching decision BCCI has decided to increase match fees for
domestic cricketers in all formats both for men and women wef the current
season 2021-22. The hike in per day match fee for playing and non-playing
members has been graded based on the number of matches played informed
Brig Gupta. “Domestic cricketers are the backbone of our cricket and it was
about time that they got an increase in their match fee. We hope that this will incentivize more youngsters to take up the glorious game of cricket,” stated Jay Shah, Hony Secretary BCCI in a communication addressed to all Associations.
The Sub-committee members unanimously applauded the player friendly decisions of BCCI and passed a resolution thanking the Apex Council on behalf of all the cricketers of the UTs of J&K and Ladakh. (KNB)
