Baramulla, April 21(KNB): In a significant boost to sports training in the region, the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) has successfully distributed sports kits to trainees across various Khelo India Centres in the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora.
The distribution event, which took place at the Showkat Ali Sports Stadium in Baramulla, saw around 300 young athletes receive new sports gear for disciplines including boxing, football, hockey, badminton, kabaddi, and kho kho. The initiative is part of JKSC’s ongoing efforts to promote sports and nurture talent at the grassroots level.
The kits were handed over by esteemed officials such as Ms. Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir JKSC, and Dr. Javaid Ur Rehman (JKAS), Divisional Sports Officer Central JKSC. The event was also graced by Mr. Majid Yousuf, Nodal Officer Khelo India JKSC, Mr. Hilal Ahamd, Incharge Manager SKISC Srinagar, and Mr. Showkat Ahamd Shah, Incharge Showkat Ali Stadium Baramulla, alongside the administrative staff of JKSC at Baramulla, coaches, and district managers of the eight centres.
The trainees, accompanied by their mentors, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the JKSC, particularly acknowledging the efforts of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary JKSC, for implementing schemes that offer equal opportunities to athletes from remote districts of the Union Territory.
To ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution process, all necessary protocols were observed, including the verification of credentials and NSRS IDs of the beneficiaries.
The provision of these training kits is expected to inject new energy into the regular training sessions, enhancing the performance and morale of the trainees.
Looking ahead, the JKSC has planned to extend this initiative to 12 more Khelo India Centres in four districts of South Kashmir, following the directives of Secretary JKSC, Ms. Nuzhat Gul, to widen the reach of sports development programs in the region.(KNB)
