J&K sees warmest March in 42 years, lowest rainfall

Srinagar 08 April(KNB):With heat wave refusing to budge, Weatherman on Friday said that March has been the warmest month corresponding to the data of last 42 years for the third month of year. Unusual heat due to lack of rainfall, triggered by absence of active western disturbances over Kashmir and north India, have been cited as few of the reasons.

“Instead of 118mm Rainfull, Srinagar City only records 2.2mm rainfull in the month of March which keep temperature rise in city and other parts of Kashmir,” Director Meteorological Department Sonam Lotus to KNB.

“In last 42 years, Kashmir records the warmest month in 2022 with the highest temperature of 27.6 degree Celsius recorded in Srinagar city, while Jammu recorded 37.3 degree Celsius on 27 March highest in the month ,” Sonam said.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather will remain dry for next week, probably on 11 night, moderate rainfall will be recorded in Kashmir.

“Country recorded its warmest March in 122 years and lowest rainfall since 1908 with a severe heat wave scorching large swathes Meteorological Department said.(KNB)
