Is Mumbai Indian’s Jasprit Bumrah fit enough play against Royal Challengers Bangalore?

The big question ahead of the IPL 2019 tie between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday circles around the participation of Jasprit Bumrah. The MI pacer had incurred a shoulder injury in the team’s opener at Wankhede against Delhi Capitals. However, the pacer did join Mumbai’s practice session on over the last two days were he fielded on day one and bowled on the second day.

“As we all know, Bumrah was out there yesterday warming up and took a few catches. He has recovered well today and looks fit,” a member from Mumbai Indians’ management told reporters at the Chinnaswamy stadium. “He will be assessed after today’s (training) session.”

Bumrah had joined the MI camp in Bengaluru a day later and the seamer was seen at the nets bowling to top-order Mumbai batsman to gear up for their second league game in IPL 2019. On Tuesday, he spent 20 minutes running with his teammates and was part of the catching drill, although he did not bowl on that day. He looked comfortable on both days.

Ahead of the tie against Virat Kohli’s RCB side, teammate Quinton de Kock praised the pacer saying, “Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best bowlers in the world. I am sure Bumrah is going to come back strong. You know he is one of the best death bowlers in the world.”

In IPL 2019, Bumrah finished with 1/40 in four overs where he was hit for big boundaries by young Rishabh Pant. The Delhi batsman hit the pacer for two sixes and a boundary in his blazing 78-run knock.

Bumrah’s injury left a deep though of worry among the Indian think tank. They can’t afford a big injury scare for the pacer just two months ahead of the World Cup. Bumrah will be India’s strike bowler at the big tournament which is slated to begin from May 30 in England and Wales.
