Encounter breaks out in Handwara

Handwara, March 28(KNB): An encounter broke out between militants and the government forces in Yaroo village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning.

As per the reports, the Army’s 30 RR, SOG Handwara and the CRPF launched a search operation in the area and cordoned off the whole area while lights were installed during the night to prevent the militants from escaping.

The militants opened fire after a search party approached the house in which they were hiding, the forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight.

Reportedly, Two militants are believed to be trapped inside the house.

Meanwhile, In wake of the gunfight, the authorities have suspended internet services in Hundwara and Sopore area.

Pertinently, Authorities have also ordered the closure of Handwara Degree college, Higher Secondary school Handwara (both boys and girls), Higher secondary Langate.

Moreover, Section 144 has been imposed around the gunfight site.

As per the last reports, encounter is underway in the area.(KNB)
