Srinagar 08 February (KNB): Peoples Conference’s Irfan Panditpuri secured chairperson post of District Development Council (DDC) on Monday in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Panditpuri of Peoples Conference was elected chairman of DDC in Kupwara following the speculations of inadequate members’ presence during the election meeting, which would have adjourned the election process, were quashed as members from other parties came later on.
However, the four members belonging to the National Conference, as per reports, had been absent and did not take part in election proceedings.
Pertinently, the DDC Vice-Chairperson post was also secured by independent candidate Haji Farooq of Peoples who has the support of Peoples Conference. (KNB)
