New Delhi 08 May(KNB) – The Indian Armed Forces today issued a statement detailing their measured and proportionate response to Pakistan’s recent attempts to escalate tensions.
In a statements issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, official said that During a press briefing on Operation Sindoori on 07 May 2025, the Indian military confirmed that Pakistan had attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India between the night of 07-08 May 2025. The targeted locations included Avantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
“These attempts, involving drones and missiles, were successfully neutralised by our Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems,” the official statement read. “The debris recovered from these attacks confirms Pakistani origin.”
In response to this unprovoked aggression, the Indian Armed Forces today targeted Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations within Pakistan. The statement emphasized that India’s response was in the same domain and of similar intensity as the initial Pakistani aggression. Preliminary reports indicate that an Air Defence system in Lahore has been neutralised.
The statement also highlighted a concerning increase in unprovoked firing by Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC) using mortars and heavy calibre artillery in the Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. Tragically, this indiscriminate firing has resulted in the loss of sixteen innocent lives, including three women and five children.
“Due to the persistent Pakistani firing and the resultant loss of innocent lives, the Indian Armed Forces were compelled to respond to bring the mortar and artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt,” the statement asserted.
The Indian Armed Forces reiterated their unwavering commitment to non-escalation, provided that this commitment is reciprocated and respected by the Pakistani military, statement said.(KNB)
