India Reports 35,499 New Covid Cases, 447 Deaths in Last 24 Hours

Srinagar 9 August (KNB): India reported 35,499 new novel coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

As per the morning update by the Health Ministry, 447 people lost their lives due to Covid-19 during the same time, taking the total fatalities across the country to 428309.

There has been 3,11,39,457 total recoveries across the country so far and the recovery rate currently at 97.40 per cent. 39,686 patients have recovered during the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry.

As per MoHFW, India’s active caseload currently stands at 4,02,188 and the active cases constitute 1.26 per cent of the total cases.

The weekly positivity rate remains below 5 per cent and currently stands at 2.35 per cent, where as the daily positivity rate at stands 2.59 per cent which is less than 3 per cent for the last 14 days, the Health Ministry said.

Moreover, the Ministry informed that the testing capacity has been substantially ramped up and a total of 48.17 crore tests have been conducted so far.

Regarding the vaccinations, the Health Ministry said that more than 52.40 crore (52,40,60,890) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far, through all sources and a further 8,39,780 doses are in the pipeline.

Of this, the total consumption including wastages is 50,51,29,252 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today).

More than 2.33 Cr (2,33,55,890) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs and private hospitals to be administered. (KNB)
