Independence Day: Uri Gunners present locals with flags and flowers

Uri, Aug 16 (KNB): Commemorating the 77th anniversary of Independence Day, Uri Gunners at Kalapahad Brigade presented tricolours at Kalgai and Jhula school and distributed sweets in the local schools.

To motivate the youth and nurture the talent various sports amenities were also presented to the Jhula school which ultimately will provide a platform to fully fill future endeavours.

Army in a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB siad that under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga campaign’ the tricolour was distributed to locals and the objective of the campaign was to inculcate the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and commemorate the journey of the people of the country, who have made their valuable contribution in the building this great nation.

Uri Gunners under the theme ‘Nation First, Always First’, an integral part of the broader ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ organised a cultural fest which was attended by approximately 350 locals including children of all schools in Kalgai village.

The fest started with hoisting of National Flag followed by dance performance by school children. Few games were organised for children and later culminated with refreshments and prize distribution. statement further added (KNB)
