Srinagar 22 February (KNB): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found in the morning on Nowgam-Pantha chowk road of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, which was later defused by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
Officials said that early morning, Road Opening Party (RoP) along with a team of police spotted a suspicious object near a bridge located on the Nowgam-Panth chowk stretch and afterwards BDS was called to check it.
Upon reaching the spot, BDS confirmed that it was an IED fitted in a tin box and was defused by the team successfully, officials added.
During the time being, vehicular movement was put to half but after defusing the IED all was set back to normal, officials said.
Similarly, a video was released in which the IED was seen getting defused at distance from the said road.
Pertinent to mention that after the Baghat attack, in which two police personnel were killed, security has been tightened up and frisking is being done at several places throughout Srinagar city. (KNB)
