Srinagar 24 February (KNB): The Institute of Animal Health and Biological Products (IAH & BP) Zakura of Animal Husbandry Department, Kashmir on Wednesday started Bio-safety Lab II for Avian Influenza testing here.
The facility was upgraded within 20 days and was inaugurated by Purnima Mittal, the Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Kashmir today.
However, Mittal congratulated the team of officers led by Dr Gowher Nabi Gora, Technical officer and Nodal officer for creating the facility in the times when the number of Avian Influenza cases are increasing in the valley, reads a press note lying with KNB.
It said that the samples were earlier sent to the states like Bhopal and Jalandhar for its testing which will be now conducted at IAH & BP, Zakura from henceforth.
“The lab will be helpful in the control and containment measures as envisaged in the Action Plan for control/containment of Avian Influenza from Government of India,” said Mittal on the occasion. (KNB)
