Govt Raises Loan Ceiling for Kisan Credit Card Holders to Rs 5 Lakh

Srinagar 01 Feb(KNB): In a significant move to support farmers, the government has increased the loan ceiling under the Modified Interest Subvention (MIS) scheme from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans.

This announcement was made by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her Union Budget 2025-26 presentation in Parliament.

The KCC program has already made a substantial impact, providing short-term credit facilities to 7.7 crore farmers, including those in the fisheries and dairy sectors. By enhancing the loan limit, the government aims to improve financial access and support for farmers, ensuring they receive credit when needed.

This move is expected to help farmers overcome immediate financial needs that arise during crop cycles. Experts believe that this initiative will play a crucial role in strengthening rural economies and promoting long-term agricultural growth.(KNB)
