Govt Orders Online Classes for Kashmir Colleges Due to Winter Woes

Srinagar, 30 November (KNB): The Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s Higher Education Department has issued Circular No: 06-HE(JK) of 2023. Dated November 30, 2023, the circular addresses the difficulties faced by students attending Government Degree Colleges in the Kashmir Division.

With winter setting in, students have been grappling with the arduous task of commuting to colleges, further complicated by disruptions to normal class work and inadequate heating arrangements. The situation is particularly pronounced due to the implementation of merit and choice-based admissions, requiring students to travel longer distances or seek accommodation in hostels or private residences.

To ensure the uninterrupted academic progress of students amid these challenges, all Principals of Government Degree Colleges in Kashmir Division have been directed to conduct classes online.

This measure will be effective from December 1, 2023, until December 31, 2023 or until the announcement of winter vacations, whichever comes first.

The circular, emphasized the importance of faculty attendance during this period. Faculty members are expected to conduct online classes from their respective colleges to ensure the completion of the syllabus as per the academic calendar.

Additionally, the circular specifies that all internal examinations and semester-end examinations will proceed according to the notified schedule of universities and institutions.-KNB
