Government Directs Medical Superintendents and Chief Medical Officers to Conduct Night Rounds for Healthcare Optimization

Srinagar, 15 November (KNB): The Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, issued a circular (DHSK/PS/2023/1054-43) directing Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents across the Kashmir Division to conduct night rounds in district and sub-district hospitals.

The directive, prompted by instructions from the Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizes the need to prevent unnecessary referrals to Tertiary Care Hospitals.

The circular underscores the importance of Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents personally inspecting hospitals under their jurisdiction to ensure that referrals are made only when essential.

Moreover, the circular mandates the submission of a fortnightly report listing patients referred to Tertiary Care Hospitals. This report should include comprehensive details of each patient and provide reasons for the referral.-KNB
