Flash Floods Hit Bandipora Villages; Several Residential Houses Damaged

Bandipora 28 July (KNB): Flash Floods hit several villages in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in damage to residential houses in worst hit Aloosa and Ashtangoo Villages.

As per Kashmir News Bureau reports, the cloud burst took place within upper reaches of Aloosa forests resulting in flash floods which has rendered damage to Chichinar, Dalnipora, Ashtangoo and Aloosa villages of the district.

A local from Aloosa told news agency Kashmir News Bureau that PMGSY had recently embanked an area which also got damaged and water has logged inside the nearby houses.

He said, “We had told them to embank the area properly, especially in-front of the nearby house but they didn’t do so.”

Moreover, roads, bunds, drainage system, paddy fields as well as the residential establishments in these villages have taken quite some damage due to the flash flood and water logging has become a major concern among the residents.

Another local told KNB that no one from the administration has visited the area so far and people are facing immense difficulties.

Moreover, no loss of life or injury in the flash floods has been reported so far. (KNB)
