Srinagar, Dec 4 (KNB): The Jammu & Kashmir Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) has issued stern directives to private schools after receiving multiple complaints of overcharging. In a fresh circular, the committee has clearly prohibited schools from collecting full transport fees during vacation periods and has banned any form of compulsory advance fee payment.
According to the circular issued by the Chairman, FFRC J&K, and accessed by Kashmir News Bureau (KNB), the panel reminded schools that they are permitted to charge only 50% of the transport fee during winter or summer vacations—depending on whether the institution falls in the winter or summer zone. Schools have been strictly warned not to exceed this 50% cap under any circumstances.
The FFRC also addressed grievances from parents alleging that some schools were compelling them to pay fees in advance. Reiterating its earlier guidelines, the committee stated that tuition fees must be collected on a monthly basis, and no school is allowed to enforce advance payments.
While parents may voluntarily choose to pay fees in advance if they wish, the FFRC stressed that no institution can force students or parents into such arrangements.
