Srinagar 21 March(KNB): Martial Arts coach Fasil Ali Dar on Monday honoured with Padma Shri at the civilian awards in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
He received award from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. Dar hails from North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Dar is the first person to receive the Padma Shri Award in sports from Jammu and Kashmir.
Faisal told KNB that he is overjoyed to receive the award from the President of India and thanked Government of India ‘for such a great honour’.I’m happy that the government has acknowledged my contribution,” he added.
“I request every youth to join sports, and keep ur self away from bad habits,” Faisal told KNB.

“As a responsible part of a society we must appreciate the sportsmanship and the laurels they bring to the society.
