KNB News Desk

Srinagar 23 June (KNB): Department of Estate J&K issued notice on Wednesday of vacating the government quarters, which are currently held by several workers and leaders of different political parties.

After the latest notice of vacating government quarters, one of the leaders residing in a quarter told news agency Kashmir News Bureau that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ex-MLAs and leaders are particularly being targeted.

Ex-MLA PDP Aijaz Ahmad Mir told KNB that he has no objection to vacating the quarter but at the same time he has been stopped from going home. He said that a security reason is being cited by the Shopian police behind not allowing him to go home.

He said that there is absolute confusion. “On one side we are asked to vacate the quarter and on the other side I am being prevented from going home,” said Mir.

“We are two ex-MLAs here living in a single quarter,” Mir emphasized, hinting towards the fact that he cannot even live along with his family members in such a condition.

Regarding the vacation from the quarters, another ex-MLA PDP Mohammad Yousuf Bhat also criticised the move by the government which is asking the workers and leaders to vacate. Bhat is currently in J63 Quarter Jawahar Nagar. (KNB)
