Shopian 13 March (KNB): An encounter in underway in between militants and security forces in Rawalpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Officials said that yesterday, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by teams of police and army on basis of the input about presence of militants in the area.
And today, upon reaching the suspected spot, hiding militants opened on security forces and was retaliated with same response, triggering off the gun-battle, officials added.
Reportedly, top commanded of Jaish-e-Muhammed outfit, who belongs to the same area is believed to be trapped in the encounter along with one or two other militants.
