Srinagar 26 September (KNB): An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in North Kashmir Bandipora’s Watnira area on Sunday morning, as per police.
The officials said that the security forces carried out a cordon and search operation in the suspected area of Bandipora after receiving inputs about the presence of militants there.
However, the encounter started after the searching parties were fired upon by holed up militants, which prompted the forces to retaliate.
Till last reports, the gunfight between the two sides in the area is said to be going on.
The encounter comes after the one in North Kashmir Uri sector’s Hathlanga forest area in which three militants were killed, who had, as per officials, crossed LoC to this side. (KNB)
