Duo Slain LeT’s Militants Killed in Kulgam Were Aiming to Carry Out Attack on National Highway: IGP-K

Srinagar 08 July (KNB): Duo Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit militants who were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Kulgam area were in a bid to carry out an attack on National Highway, said Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Thursday.

While talking to reporters, IGP said that the slain militants killed in Kulgam at an encounter site near a national highway were locals and were in the process of carrying out an attack on the highway.

He further said that the other two militants killed in Pulwama were also local and all the four slain were affiliated with the LeT outfit.

It is pertinent to mention that IGP had earlier congratulated the security forces as he said that five militants were killed in 24 hours, which includes slain HM Commander killed in Handwara on intervening night of July 6 and 7.  (KNB)
