Baramulla, February 25(KNB): Baramulla Police apprehended an alleged drug peddler during naka checking at Gundbal in the Palhallan area on Tuesday.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau that a police party from Police Post Palhallan had established a naka near the Government Primary School, Gundbal, for routine checking. During the operation, a suspect traveling from Naidkhai towards Hamray attempted to flee after noticing the police presence. Alert personnel swiftly chased and apprehended him.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Ahsan Ganaie, son of Ab Ahad Ganaie, a resident of Shahgund, Hajin. A personal search led to the recovery of approximately 115 grams of a charas-like substance, a POCO mobile phone, and ₹40,000 in cash from his possession.
In connection with the seizure, FIR No. 31/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pattan. Further investigation is underway, statement added.
Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the district and urged members of the public to come forward with any information related to narcotics activities.(KNB)
