DPEO Bandipora Reviews DDC Vote Counting Arrangements

Bandipora 21 December (KNB): District Panchayat Election Officer Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad today headed a meeting of officers to assess the arrangements for counting of votes polled for the DDC elections 20202. 

 As per statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau, the meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Rahul Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, District Information Officer Jahangeer Ahmad, District Informatics Officer Malaram, Deputy District Panchayat Election Officer Bandipora, Commandant CRPF, ROs, AROs and Observers.

In the meeting officers were informed about the counting of the votes for DDC elections 2020 is scheduled to be held at Mini –Secretariat on December 22, 2020 from 9 A.M onwards till the completion of the process, read the statement.  

The statement further read that 56 counting tables have been set in two halls and 56 Supervisors, 112 Counting Assistants and 56 Micro Observers have been deputed for the counting purpose. Officers said each table will have a supervisor, two counting assistants and a micro-observer.  

“Various aspects of the counting process including counting of postal ballots, opening of ballot boxes, mixing of the votes before counting, counting of votes, persons to be allowed in the counting centre, identification of valid and invalid votes and filling of round wise and table wise tabulation sheets were also discussed in depth,” statement read.

“The PDD, Municipal Council Bandipora and Jal Shakti Departments were asked to ensure uninterrupted Power, drinking water supply and cleanliness at the venues.  The concerned officers were asked to ensure a comprehensive and accurate dissemination of counting related information and details,” it added. 

Dr Owais directed elaborate security arrangements and barricading of the venues so that the counting process can be completed in a peaceful manner. 

Statement further read that DPEO Dr Owais also inspected the counting halls and reviewed the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the counting process. He directed to make all logistic arrangements for the staff deputed for counting purposes. (KNB)
