Srinagar 20 October (KNB): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Wednesday said that the one of the militants killed in Shopian encounter was district commander and has been identified as Adil Ahamd Wani.
IGP said that Wani was district commander of Shopian and was active since last year. He said that Wani was involved in the killing of non-local carpenter in Pulwama recently.
It was further said that the slain militant commander killed in the Shopian encounter was active since last year’s July. As per IGP, the slain was affiliated with militant outfit LeT (TRF).
The identity of the second militant killed in the encounter is yet to be ascertained.
During the encounters fought between militants and security forces in valley since two weeks, IGP Kashmir said that 15 militants have been killed so far in the period. (KNB)
