Despite challenges, Kashmiri Youth make sports a passion

Srinagar 17 Jan (KNB): In Last Few years, Kashmir is rising and shining in all fields especially in sports. Most of the Kashmiri players are winning Gold in different games like Kickboxing, wushu and many other and making Kashmir Proud. The athletes of the valley are making their mark at different levels and are emerging as the inspiration for the other athletes, youth to follow their dream.




Despite odds athletes like ishfaq Ahmad , Mehrajuddin wadoo, waseem has made their name for themselves and Valley in the football whereas Parvaiz Rasool, Shubman Khajuria and emerging cricketers like Qamran Iqbal and Rasik salam dar has made the impact in cricket.

While Kashmiri girls are also coming forward to show their talent in sports and making new scenario in the field of sports, Irtiqa Ayub a Rugby player, Sumiya and Sakeena the cricket coach of Valley are examples who are in the list of of best sportsperson of the Kashmir Valley.

Talking to KNB Irtiqa Ayub, a budding player and coach of Rugby sport said, “Sports and education is important for the development, we witness the youth of valley are indulged in drugs and they should come in the field of the sports to make themselves busy.”

“Girls should come forward in field of sports and make their name in society at national and international level with dedication and hard work,” she said.

Talking about her achievement Irtiqa said, my biggest achievement is that I have won the gold medal and am training girls and boys of various age groups despite the criticism i am facing.”

Important to know that, Sports and games are undoubtedly the building blocks of the health and character of a player and enhance the value and virtues.Sport activities are very often a significant factor in one’s personal growth and development and in finding one’s place in the immediate environment, as well as in the pace and the direction in which a community is developing.

Sports has been the most loved activity across the globe. The times has changed and the sports are not just played for the recreational purposes or to keep the physical fitness .The sports are now played with the competitive frame of mind and are now seen as the career options to earn the name and the fame for themselves and the society.

Faisal Ali a International kickboxing coach said, ” From last few years, many young girls and boys are coming forward to join us and making their place in different games and now Young boys and girls are winning gold and silver medals and that is good sign of us.”


“During the last few year the scenario of the mentality of people is positively changing, now the number of youth opting the kick boxing has drastically increased especially the girl are joining the sport for the self defense and as the career option,” he said. (KNB)
