Srinagar 12 October (KNB): In the ongoing demolition drive to curb the illegal construction, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has demolished various illegal structures in Khushalsar, Shalimar Colony, Baghe Nunsingh, Rathpora, palpora , Noorshah colony and other places, SMC officials said.
SMC officials said that after getting reports of illegal constructions, the Enforcement team along with concerned enforcement officers and concerned ward officer went to the reported sites and demolished various structures along with those having major deviations in sanctioned building permissions.
Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali said that he has given strict directions to the ward officers along with their subordinates and enforcement wing to remain vigilant in their concerned wards regarding constructions.
“They have been directed to check permissions on spots before proceeding for legal action,” he said.
“The ward officers have also been directed to keep a routine vigil on the permitted constructions as well, and if any deviation or violation is made in sanctioned plan, shall be razed down at an initial level,” He further said
He added that on receiving specific information and complaint, SMC Shall act promptly for redressal of the complaint and demolish the illegal structure on spot.
Commissioner said that people who take undue advantage of Sundays, other holidays and indulge in illegal constructions are warned of stern action and are advised to discontinue with such mal practices.
“It is time and again being requested to the citizens of Srinagar, who aim to construct residential/commercial establishments’ to apply for proper building permissions from Competent Authority and shall not take law and order in their hands”, Chief Enforcement Officer Sofi Akbar said. (KNB)
