Baramulla 24 October (KNB): District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress on strengthening and up-gradation work on Baramulla-Gulmarg via Babareshi road.
The Meeting was attended by Executive Director National Highway Infrastructural Development Corporation limited (NHICDL), Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, SE R&B, DFO Tangmarg, Tehsildars. As well as heads of various engineering departments among other concerned functionaries were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, Executive Director NHIDCL gave a detailed power point presentation and highlighted various issues and bottlenecks hampering the smooth execution of the work.
He said, “The road having a length of 42.80 km is being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs. 84.62 cr.”
Further added that the road was declared as National Highway 701A in 2018 by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
G N Itoo said, “The roads play a vital role in developing tourism as it connects Baramulla with the famous tourist destination, Gulmarg”.
He directed the concerned agencies to ramp up the pace of work so that it is completed well within the stipulated timeframe.
DDC also stressed to work in coordination and cohesion besides directed to sort out all bottlenecks in a time bound manner. (KNB)
