DC Kupwara Issues Strict Order to Curb Misuse of Social Media for Anti-National Activities

Kupwara, 30 November (KNB) To counter the misuse of social media platforms for promoting anti-national activities, District Magistrate of Kupwara, has issued a comprehensive order under Section 144 of the Cr.PC 1973.

The order, dated November 30, 2023, prohibits the posting, uploading, forwarding or sharing of content that glorifies terrorist actions, intimidates or terrorizes individuals or the public, incites violence propagates terrorist and secessionist ideologies, or promotes hatred on religious grounds within the geographical limits of District Kupwara.

District Magistrate Ayushi Sudan highlighted that these actions are deemed prejudicial to the security of the state, maintenance of law and order, and are likely to disturb public tranquility. The order aims to prevent common citizens and public functionaries from being terrorized and hindered in the discharge of their lawful duties.

This order comes into immediate effect and is enforceable within the district. District Magistrate urged the general public to adhere to the restrictions outlined in the order to ensure the security and well-being of the region.

The order has been communicated to various authorities, including the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department, J&K Jammu, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara/Handwara, District Information Officer, Kupwara, and District Informatics Officer, NIC Kupwara, for necessary actions, publicity, and dissemination through official channels.-KNB
