Srinagar 25 September (KNB): Several contractual lab technicians on Saturday staged a protest in the premises of SKIMS Medical College – Hospital Bemina, demanding to be permanently placed on their posts.
The aggrieved lab technicians said to Kashmir News Bureau that they were engaged last year on the post of Lab Technician in the SKIMS Bemina’s Microbiology department during the raging covid to shore up the testing by scaling up the same.
While engaging for the post of lab technician, the order had clearly mentioned that the staff for the post would be taken for a period of three months (extendable up to one year). However, one of the lab technicians, agreed about being engaged earlier for three months but at the same time claimed of things, entitling them for an extension in their jobs.
However, the distraught technicians are now also being told to leave from the department, which they said is weighing upon them heavily amid the miasma of J&K’s unemployment rate.
The technicians said that they should be permanently placed in the department for the jobs so that they could continuously keep providing their services, which they have been doing for more than a year now, to the public. (KNB)
